summer holiday .

i am pleasantly surprised (nor maybe not so much pleasantly as just surprised) that my wireless internet connection is much better here, on the gold coast, than at my home in sydney.

yes folks, you heard right. i am blogging from the gold coast with pristene internet connection. and right now i’m staring at a wine rack full of sealed mount franklin bottles; a scene which obviously belongs in someone’s garage.

i figured that it was about time i took myself on a holiday. although i miss my yearly trip to shanghai, (and all the shopping involved), it feels good to have tried something new. my asserted independence is strikingly bold, and this has been increasingly emphasised by my bus ride to the airport.

back to the future .

i have returned to a world of unblocked and fast internet! and oh, what a wonder it is. i am now able to view articles about communism, sex and porn all from the comfort of my own computer, without using a proxy server and without the danger of a government putting me in jail. i feel so free.

i have also returned to my shoes on the balcony and my books in the toilet. all courtesy of my sweet and loving mother. but this is no time to complain; it is time to rejoice! life as i know it is back, and here to stay.

there’s a weird noise coming from outside my window though; i don’t remember sydney being this noisy. compared to shanghai i always figured it was extremely quiet.

tripping .

WARNING: long rambling post ahead.

unfortunately my visual editor doesn’t work on this proxy server, so i can’t do much about the formatting of my posts. i don’t care though; i’ll fix it all up when i get home. right now it’s good just to be able to write something.

i’m more than half way through my trip, and half a world away from home, sitting here in this big empty house, i realise how much i actually like my life. not that i don’t like it here; figuring out how i’m related to everyone is interesting, but i don’t think a day has passed where i have not thought about life back in sydney. it may not always be wondering what i’m missing out on, and it may not always be missing everything i left for a month, but the thoughts are always there.

possibilities .

i’m sitting at hong kong airport, blogging on my shiny new black viao courtesy of their free wi-fi internet. it’s exciting, kind of.

ironically, the chinese government’s firewall has blocked out my blog, which means i can’t access it while i’m in shanghai. i’m hoping that windows live writer will solve the problem.

hong kong is the most amazing place. the shopping here is fantastic, and i’ve heard that it’s because of the lack of tax that it’s so cheap. yay for free trading governments.

i’m tired though, and my new laptop’s battery dies in about 20 minutes, which means i should probably get going. just popping in to say hi, and that i miss you all, and that hopefully i should still be able to blog from now on. and if not, i just wasn’t clever enough.

going, going, gone .

soundtrack: nothing really // thoughts: of a journey

i’m going away! i’ll be back in 7 days, on the 9th of december, with lots of photos and stories. the excitement just wore off, probably because i’ve finished packing. i can’t believe it’s december already. furthermore, i can’t believe it is the december, the end, of my high school life.

i still haven’t been bored so far, which is a good sign. i have a feeling that things are going to slow down soon, though, especially after coffs. but i’m going to enjoy this while i can. the good stuff is all gone though; formal, post-hsc parties, post-hsc relief.

so what now?
